Joints
It is essential to consider the following typologies regarding joints in claddings:
- Structural joints and/or vertical joints associated to support: they must match the building joints and/or the vertical joints of the support wall in width.
- Horizontal or compression joints: they must be placed at the concrete slab level and must be 15 mm wide.
- Expansion or vertical joints: they must be approximately placed every 6 m and 2 m from the corners, and must be 10 mm wide.
- Putty joints or edge joints of the facade panels: they must be, at least, 10 mm wide. Their depth must be equal to the sum of slab and mortar thickness.
- Joints between stone slabs: they must be, at least, 2 mm wide and they will be in accordance with the provisions in UNE 41957-1.
