Platelets
Natural stone platelets are indoor paving units, obtained by cutting or shearing, whose nominal thickness is less than 12 mm, and whose width is more than twice their thickness. These are supported on a structure by mortars, adhesives or other supporting elements.
Due to their low thickness, platelets are usually used to pave areas of light pedestrian traffic, such as house floors, bathrooms, etc.
The plan shape of platelets is usually square or rectangular, but always smaller than in the case of tiles. Small sizes such as 20x10 mm or 30x30 mm are the usual formats.
The European standard specifying the requirements to be met by platelets is the UNE-EN 12057: Natural stone products. Platelets. Requirements.
