- Maritime walk of Bouzas, Vigo (Pontevedra) -
Name: Maritime walk of Bouzas, Vigo (Pontevedra)
Architect: Julio Daniel Rodríguez y Daniel Rivoira Zecca
Builder: NECSO S.L. (1ª Fase) / UTE Puentes S.L. + SACYR S.L. (2ª Fase)
Project date: June 2001 - June 2004
Description:
The project planned to rectify the deteriorated relationship between the fishing town and the Bay by providing value to the elements that still existed there. To that end, three types of works were undertaken:

  • Regeneration of public space around the church.
  • Urban planning of the little fishing port.
  • Building of a promenade, which by uniting the several activities carried out in the area, would serve to recover the idyllic spaces along the shoreline.

  • The area of Bouzas Cove is conceived as a grand leisure area besides the sea. Therefore, the promenade bordering the shoreline acquires different characteristics all along its length according to the leisure activity performed alongside.

    System of placing:
Granite is used as a traditional reference of port premises in Galicia. It is widely used in pavements (as cobbled stones and tiles) factory walls and even urban furniture.

Large dimension ashlar masonry is of special interest here and it used for lining the cyclopean concrete walls that line the shoreline along the promenade.
